A TIA Portal project archive (.zap11 to .zap21), a TIA Portal project folder as a .zip, a TIA Portal global library (archive .zal11 to .zal21, or the library folder as a .zip), a STEP 7 project folder as a .zip or a STEP 7 archive, or a STEP 5 program file (.S5D, together with its Z0.SEQ symbol file if you have it). You can also add the System/PEData.plf file of a TIA Portal project directly.

Another version of the same project (any of the kinds above). You get a report of added, removed and changed blocks, networks, interface members, tags and hardware, from the first project to this one.

Look inside a TIA Portal global library

Global libraries are how SIMATIC blocks travel: Siemens publishes its general functions, communication and drive libraries this way, machine builders ship their standard blocks as a library, and device makers add one for their grippers, sensors and drives. TIA Portal opens a library only when it is the same version or newer, and only inside a project. Upload the library here to see what is in it before you install anything.

      What to upload

      • A library archive: the .zal14 to .zal21 file TIA Portal makes with "Archive library".
      • Or the library folder as a .zip: the folder that holds the .al17 (or .al18 and so on) file together with its System folder. The .al file alone holds only the library's name and settings; the blocks are in System/PEData.plf.

      What comes out

      • Library contents: every type with its folder, kind (FB, FC, PLC data type and so on), language, versions and their state (released or in work, the default version marked), and every master copy with what it holds.
      • The blocks: each type's block with its interface (inputs, outputs, statics, constants with comments and start values), its LAD and FBD networks drawn or its SCL and STL code, and the library version it belongs to. Older versions of a type are listed under their version number. Master copies that hold blocks or data blocks are printed under their folder.
      • The same as an offline HTML viewer, the blocks as external sources (.scl, .awl, .db, .udt) and the interfaces and contents as CSV and Excel.

      Things to know

      • Versions from V13 SP1 to V21 have been read, including libraries saved with a newer TIA Portal than the one you have.
      • Know-how protected blocks are listed by name; their code is stored encrypted.
      • HMI content (faceplates, screens, scripts) is listed in the contents table but not drawn.
      • A few library blocks keep their code in a binary form this viewer does not show yet; they are marked as such and their interface is still shown.
      • To compare two versions of a library, add the second one under "Second version to compare".

      Privacy

Results are deleted automatically after 30 minutes, or straight away with "Delete now".
