Open a STEP 5 S5D file
STEP 5 programs for the S5-90U to S5-155U still run in plenty of old machines. The program
lives in one .S5D file (for example BISSO@ST.S5D), and the symbols and comments in a separate
Z0.SEQ file next to it. The DOS software that reads them is hard to run today. Upload the files
here and read the program in a browser or on paper.
What to upload
- The
.S5Dprogram file, and itsZ0.SEQsymbol file if you have it: both in the same upload. Without the symbol file the program still reads, with absolute addresses only. - Or the whole project folder as a
.zip; the files are found by name. - The
.INIsettings file can come along, but it is not needed.
What comes out
- A printout (PDF) of every block (OB, PB, SB, FB, FX, DB, DX) in STL with its networks, the symbols and comments by each operand, the data blocks with their values, the symbol list and a cross reference of inputs, outputs, flags, timers and counters.
- An offline viewer (HTML) with the block list and a search box.
- STL sources and the symbols, data and cross reference as CSV and Excel.
The instruction names can be international (A, AN, O, =) or German (U, UN, O, =). By default the tool follows the symbol file: German when its addresses are written as E, A and M, international when they are I, Q and F.
Things to know
- A symbol file alone holds no program. If only the
Z0.SEQfile comes through, the page says so; look for theST.S5Dfile next to it. - Programs are shown as STL. STEP 5 LAD and CSF views are not drawn.
- Compare two copies: upload one under "Second version to compare" to see which blocks, networks and comments changed, for example between the copy in the machine and the one on file.
