CX-Programmer stores text in the code page of the PC the project was made on. Automatic recognises it from the text; pick one if comments show wrong letters.

Your files are deleted after processing.

Get the symbols and comments of an Omron project into Excel

For an I/O list, a wiring check, an HMI tag import or a handover document you need the symbols and comments of the PLC program as a table. Upload the CX-Programmer project and download them as an Excel workbook and as CSV files.

      What the tables hold

      • Symbols: every global symbol and the local symbols of each program, with name, data type, address or value and comment. Addresses that have a comment but no symbol name (I/O comments) are included, as are function block instances with their function block, and the steps, actions and transitions of SFC programs.
      • Comments: rung comments with their program, section, rung and step number, comments attached to single instructions, and program, section and function block comments.
      • Used addresses: every address and symbol the program uses, with its comment and how many times it is read and written.
      • Cross reference: one row per use, with the program, section, rung, step and instruction.
      • Function block variables: inputs, outputs, internal and external variables with data type, AT address, initial value, retain and comment.

The Excel workbook also lists the programs with their tasks, every rung with its instruction list, and the units of the I/O table. CSV files use UTF-8 so that accented and Asian characters come through.

      Comments in other languages

CX-Programmer stores comments in the code page of the PC the project was made on, without saying which one. The tool recognises the language from the comments themselves (Western and Central European, Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish, Baltic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and others) and converts them. If letters look wrong, choose the language under "More options" and run it again.

      Things to know

      • Symbols that use automatic address allocation keep the address CX-Programmer assigned, and are marked as such.
      • A CX-Programmer library file (.cxr) holding a symbol table on its own works too.

      Also in the download

A ladder printout (PDF), an offline HTML viewer and the instruction list of every program.
