OpenLP imports ProPresenter 4, 5 and 6 documents, but not ProPresenter 7's. FreeShow reads ProPresenter files itself, but a clean OpenLyrics copy is useful when an import goes wrong or you want the songs in an open format. This page converts ProPresenter songs of any version to OpenLyrics, the format both programs import.
What to upload
The .pro, .pro6, .pro5 or .pro4 files, or a ZIP of the ProPresenter library folder
(Documents/ProPresenter/Libraries/… for ProPresenter 7 and later). .probundle exports work
too; the media inside them is ignored.
How ProPresenter songs become OpenLyrics
- Each group becomes a verse: “Verse 2” →
v2, “Chorus” →c1, “Bridge” →b1, “Pre-Chorus” →p1, “Intro” →i1, “Ending” →e1. Names OpenLyrics has no letter for, such as “Tag” or “Interlude”, become “other” verses (o1,o2…). - Each slide of a group becomes a slide of the verse (an optional split in OpenLP).
- The selected arrangement becomes the verse order.
- The CCLI author becomes the authors, and the copyright year, publisher and song number fill the copyright and CCLI fields.
- Groups with no text, such as a “Blank” slide or a slide that only shows a video, are left out.
Importing
OpenLP: File → Import → Song, choose “OpenLyrics or OpenLP 2 Exported Song”, and add all the
.xml files at once.
FreeShow: use the import for OpenLP / OpenLyrics files and select the .xml files.
Backgrounds, media, cues and text styling are not converted, and ProPresenter doesn't store chords in a form that could be carried over. Everything else about the words is kept, and the song list lists every song with its CCLI number for your reporting.
