Windows Movie Maker project to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro
Moving a Windows Movie Maker edit to a full editor means rebuilding it by hand: Movie Maker
cannot export its timeline. Upload the .wlmp project instead and import the edit.
Which file to use
- Premiere Pro: the
-Premiere.xmlfile (File > Import). DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer import it too. - Final Cut Pro: the
.fcpxmlfile (File > Import > XML). DaVinci Resolve reads it as well. - Other editors: the EDLs (one per track) or the OpenTimelineIO file.
The storyboard comes across with its cuts, speed and transitions, title cards as a colour clip with a title above it, captions as titles at their place, and music and narration on their own audio tracks with their volume and fades. The captions also come as SRT and WebVTT files.
Relinking the media
The editor files point to the paths the videos, pictures and music had on the PC where the project was made. If the files are elsewhere now, give their folder under "Media folder on the editing computer", or relink them in the editor. The media list shows every file and its original path.
