The .fcpxml file from File > Export XML in Final Cut Pro, or a .fcpxmld bundle in a .zip (newer Final Cut Pro versions save a folder). Several XML files or a .zip of them are fine. The media files themselves are not needed.

    Options

Nested sequences keep each compound clip as one clip you can open, as in Final Cut Pro. Laid out flat puts their contents straight onto the timeline tracks, which the EDLs always do.

Leave empty to keep the paths from Final Cut Pro. If the media was copied to another drive or a Windows PC, enter the folder it is in now (for example D:\Footage or /Volumes/Media/Project) and Premiere finds the files straight away.

Clips in the exported events become clips in Premiere Pro bins, with a bin for every keyword and for favorites. Compound, synchronized and multicam clips become sequences.

    More options

Keep subfolders when the folder holds the same subfolders as on the Mac; all in one folder when every media file was copied into the folder itself.

Your files are deleted after processing.

Final Cut Pro captions as SRT files

Captions made in Final Cut Pro (with the caption tools, or imported and corrected there) live in the project as caption clips on a caption role. When the edit moves on, to Premiere Pro, to a subtitler or to a video platform, they need to come out as a subtitle file with the right times.

    What the tool does

Upload the .fcpxml export of the project. For every project, the captions are written as SubRip (.srt) files, one file per caption language (Final Cut Pro keeps each language on its own caption role, for example English and German). The times are the caption's place on the project timeline, to the millisecond, so the file lines up with the exported video from its first frame. Captions inside compound clips come along at their place on the main timeline; disabled captions are left out.

Premiere Pro imports SRT files with File > Import: drag the caption item into the sequence above the video tracks. YouTube, Vimeo and most players take the same file.

    Also in the download

The same upload gives you the whole project for Premiere Pro (as a Final Cut Pro 7 XML), the text of every title with its timecode, the markers as a list, and a media list. CEA-608 and ITT captions are both read; their styling (colors, position) is not kept in SRT, which holds the text and the times only.
