Convert Procreate to PNG, with every layer (Beta)

Save a Procreate drawing as PNG

To get a PNG of a .procreate file you would normally open it on an iPad and export it. Here you upload the file instead and download a full-size PNG, plus every layer as its own PNG.

1. Upload one or more .procreate files, or a ZIP of them.
2. Leave Also save every layer as a PNG ticked if you want the layers too.
3. Click Convert and download the PNG, or the ZIP of layers.

The full picture

The PNG is the finished picture that Procreate itself saves inside the file, so it matches what you see in the app, pixel for pixel, at the full canvas size. When the background colour was switched off in Procreate, the PNG keeps the transparency; otherwise the background colour is part of the picture. The colour profile of the canvas (sRGB or Display P3) and the resolution are embedded, so colours and print size come out right. A JPEG is made as well, for places that don't take PNG; transparent areas become white in it.

Every layer as a PNG

The ZIP has one PNG per layer:

• each PNG is the size of the canvas, so the layers line up when you stack them again;
• groups become folders, and the files are numbered from the bottom layer up, like the layer list read upwards;
• hidden layers are included and marked (hidden) in the file name;
• a layer's mask is applied to its PNG, but its opacity and blend mode are not, so you get the pixels exactly as painted.

The background colour has its own PNG too, named Background colour.

Good to know

• Very large canvases give large PNGs: a 16,000 × 16,000 canvas is 256 megapixels. Canvases up to 300 megapixels are converted.
• Text layers are exported as pictures of the text.
• If a file holds no finished picture (rare), the PNG is drawn from the layers, and the result page says so.
