    Clip Studio's paper layer is the canvas colour. Hide it for a PNG with a transparent background; it stays in the PSD, hidden.

    Each layer as a canvas-sized PNG, in folders like the layer panel, so they line up when stacked.

    .clip is Clip Studio Paint's own format and no other program opens it: not Photoshop, not Procreate, not Krita, not your file browser's preview. If someone sent you a .clip file, or you no longer have Clip Studio, upload it here to see the picture and get it in formats that open everywhere.

    What you see and get

    After converting, the page shows the picture and a table of every layer: its name, kind (raster, vector, text, folder, correction and so on), blend mode, opacity and whether it is visible, clipped or masked. You can then download:

    • a PSD with all the layers, which Photoshop, Photopea, Krita, GIMP, Affinity Photo and Procreate open,
    • a PNG of the whole picture,
    • a ZIP with each layer as a PNG.

    Files from any device

    Clip Studio Paint writes the same .clip format on Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android and Chromebook, in the PRO, EX and DEBUT editions, so a file made on a tablet converts just like one from a desktop. Files from cloud storage and backups work as long as they are complete.

    If the file won't convert

    • A .cmc file is only the index of a multi-page project. The pages are .clip files in the project's folder.
    • A file that stops partway (an interrupted download or copy) is reported as damaged. Copy it again from where it was saved.
    • Other programs also use the .clip extension for unrelated files (video clips, clipboard files). Those are recognised and reported as not being Clip Studio files.
