Open a Camtasia project in Premiere Pro
Premiere Pro cannot open .tscproj files, and Camtasia only exports finished videos. This
converter reads the project and writes a Premiere Pro XML with the whole edit, so you can go on
editing in Premiere instead of starting again from a flattened MP4.
Step by step
- Upload the
.tscprojfile (or a zipped.cmprojfrom a Mac, or a Camtasia Studio 8.camproj). - Turn the
.trecrecordings into MP4 with the Camtasia recording converter and put the MP4 files next to the recordings. Premiere cannot decode.trecfiles. - In Premiere Pro choose File > Import and pick the
-Premiere.xmlfile. The sequence appears in a bin with every track, clip and group. - If Premiere asks for media, point it at the first missing file; it finds the rest in the same folder.
What you find in Premiere
- One video track per Camtasia track, in the same order, and audio tracks for the sound.
- Recordings with picture and sound linked, cut where you cut them in Camtasia.
- Groups as nested sequences: double-click one to open it, as you would expand a group in Camtasia.
- Speed changes as Time Remapping speed, zooms and pans as Motion keyframes (Scale, Position, Rotation), crops as the Crop effect, opacity and volume with their keyframes.
- Text callouts as text generators, transitions as Cross Dissolve or Dip to Black.
Camtasia's cursor effects, click effects, shadows and behaviours have no Premiere equivalent and are listed in the report.
