A LightBurn project (.lbrn2, or .lbrn from older versions) only opens in LightBurn. If you
were sent one and use Inkscape, Illustrator, a Cricut or another laser program, or you no longer
have LightBurn, this page turns it into a layered SVG at true size.
How to convert LBRN2 to SVG
- Upload the
.lbrn2or.lbrnfile. Projects from LightBurn 0.8 up to 2.1 are read. - Download the SVG. It is in millimetres, so it comes in at the size it was designed.
- Open it in your program. Every LightBurn layer is its own SVG layer, named after the layer and its settings, in LightBurn's layer colour.
What comes across
- Shapes: paths, curves, rectangles (with rounded corners), ellipses, groups, rotations and mirroring, at their exact place.
- Text: LightBurn stores an outline of every text object, and that outline is used, so the text looks right without the font. Text saved without one stays editable text.
- Engraving pictures are embedded in the SVG at their size and place.
- Layer settings: a legend below the drawing lists every layer with its mode, power, speed, passes and interval, on its own layer called "Legend (delete before cutting)". Untick Add a legend to the SVG under More options to leave it out.
The result page shows the drawing and the table of layers before you download.
Need DXF or xTool instead?
Under Convert to, choose DXF drawing for CAD and CNC software, or an xTool Creative Space project to run the design on an xTool laser with the layers already set up.
Privacy
The upload is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes; the converted files are deleted after 30 minutes, or straight away with "Delete now".
