LightBurn can export DXF, but only when you have LightBurn. Upload the .lbrn2 (or older .lbrn)
project here and get a DXF drawing for CAD, CNC routers, vinyl cutters or another laser program.
How to convert LBRN2 to DXF
- Upload the
.lbrn2or.lbrnfile. Projects from LightBurn 0.8 up to 2.1 are read. - Download the
.dxffile and open or import it.
What the DXF contains
- Millimetres, AutoCAD 2000 format (the version every CAD and laser program reads).
- One DXF layer per LightBurn layer, named after it, in the nearest matching colour, so you can still tell cut lines from engraving.
- Shapes at their exact place and size: paths, rectangles, ellipses and groups, with rotations and mirroring applied. Curves are written as fine polylines that stay within 0.01 mm of the original curve.
- Text as the outline LightBurn saved with it. Text saved without an outline is written as DXF text and needs the font on the computer that opens it.
Engraving pictures are left out, because DXF drawings hold lines only. The result says when this happens; choose Layered SVG under Convert to to keep them.
Power and speed
DXF has no place for laser settings. The result page lists every layer with its power, speed and passes, so you can set them up again in the other program.
Privacy
The upload is deleted as soon as the conversion finishes; the converted files are deleted after 30 minutes, or straight away with "Delete now".
