Print an L5X or L5K export
L5X and L5K files are how Logix programs travel: exported for version control, sent by a system integrator or generated by a tool. They are text, but a 40,000-line XML file is no way to review ladder logic. Upload the export here and get it drawn as a printout and as an offline viewer.
Any kind of export
- Whole projects (
TargetType="Controller"), with programs, tasks, modules, tags, data types and Add-On Instructions. - Partial exports: a single program, routine, a few copied rungs, an Add-On Instruction, a user-defined data type or a module. The printout contains what the file contains.
- L5K text exports, including the old ones from RSLogix 5000 version 12.
Exports saved by Logix Designer and RSLogix 5000 versions 12 to 38 were tested.
What is drawn
- Ladder: rungs with power rails, contacts, coils, nested branches and instruction boxes, rung comments in a box above each rung, and tag descriptions and member comments above the operands. Timer and counter presets are filled in from the tag values in the export.
- Structured text with line numbers.
- Function block diagrams: each sheet with its blocks, input and output references, connectors and wires.
- SFC: steps, transitions with their conditions, actions with their qualifiers and code, and branches.
- Tags with type, value, description and member comments, data types with their members, Add-On Instructions with parameters and local tags, modules and tasks.
- Cross reference of every tag to the routines and rungs that use it.
Routines and Add-On Instructions with Source Protection are exported encrypted; they are listed by name without their logic.

- PDF printout, Letter or A4, with a contents page and bookmarks.
- HTML viewer in one file that works offline: a project tree, the drawn routines and a search over tags, rungs and comments.
- CSV and Excel tables of tags, comments and the cross reference.
Two exports, one comparison
Upload the older export as the PLC program and the newer one under "Second version to compare". You get every added, removed and changed rung (drawn before and after), tag, data type, module and comment, as PDF, HTML and Excel. The second file may also be an ACD or L5K.
