Another version of the same project (any of the kinds above). You get a report of added, removed and changed programs, ladder blocks, lines of structured text, device comments, labels and settings, from the first project to this one.

Open a GX Works2 project (.gxw) without GX Works2

A .gxw file is a GX Works2 project saved as one file. Inside it are the programs, labels, comments and parameters of a MELSEC-F, MELSEC-Q or MELSEC-L PLC, and normally only GX Works2 opens it. Upload the file here and read the whole project as a printout, an offline viewer and tables.

      Simple and structured projects

Both kinds of GX Works2 project are read.

      • Simple projects: the programs of the program setting in their execution order, each ladder program drawn with step numbers, statements, notes and the device comments, plus the global and local labels when the project uses labels, and SFC programs as charts.
      • Structured projects: program blocks, function blocks and functions in structured ladder, FBD and ST, the tasks that run them, global labels, structures with their members, and the POUs of user libraries kept in the project.

What is read from a .gxw

      PartWhat you see
Programs and POUsladder, structured ladder, FBD, ST and SFC, drawn or listed in full
Labelsglobal and local labels with class, data type, device, initial value and comment
Structuresmembers with data type, initial value and comment
Device commentsthe common comment, printed under the devices and listed as a table
Program settingprogram files and tasks with their execution type and POU order
ParametersPLC name, memory and comment capacity (FX), device points (Q and L), latched ranges

POUs that are in the project but not in the program setting are listed after the others and marked as such, so nothing in the file is left out.

      Text in any language

GX Works2 stores comments and statements in the code page of the PC that saved the project. The tool works out which one it was, so Japanese, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean, Cyrillic and western European comments come out readable, also when the project declares a different code page than the one its texts were written in.

      Checked against GX Works2

The instruction lists decoded from GX Works2 projects were checked against the lists GX Works2 shows for the same programs: 75 programs of Q-series projects, instruction by instruction, including labels, index modification, string and real constants, comparisons and the G.INPUT / GP.OUTPUT module instructions. The ladder drawing was compared with a printout made by GX Developer.
