LightBurn can now drive EZCAD3 controllers, but it still cannot open EZCAD3 projects. If your
fiber, UV or MOPA laser came with EZCAD3, your jobs are .ez3 files that only EZCAD3 reads.
Upload one here and get a LightBurn .lbrn2 project with the same layers, settings and
positions, plus an SVG and a DXF of the drawing.
How to convert an EZ3 file for LightBurn
- Upload the
.ez3file. Convert to is preset to LightBurn project (.lbrn2). - Under More options, enter the size of your lens field, so the design lands where it was in EZCAD3.
- Compare the converted drawing with the preview EZCAD3 saved in the file, and check the table of layers and settings.
- Open the downloaded file in LightBurn with File → Open.
What arrives in LightBurn
- One layer per EZCAD3 pen, in the pen's colour, with its power, marking speed, loop count, frequency, Q pulse width, laser on, laser off, end and polygon delays, jump speed, jump delays and wobble in LightBurn's galvo layer fields.
- Hatches as fill layers with EZCAD3's line spacing, angle, direction and cross-hatching, or as the hatch lines EZCAD3 saved if you choose Exact hatch lines.
- Text, barcodes and QR codes as the outlines EZCAD3 saved, so no font is needed.
- Every layer of the EZCAD3 project, converted in order.
- Positions: EZCAD3 measures from the centre of the field, LightBurn from a corner, so the drawing is moved by half the field size you enter.
Good to know
The converter reads EZCAD3 projects in the current format. Password-protected projects cannot be read, and EZCAD3 spiral and 3D objects are not converted yet; the result tells you when a project contains them. Settings without a LightBurn layer field, such as end compensation or acceleration, are listed on the result page when your project uses them.
Settings are copied unchanged. They belong to the laser the project was made for, so check every
layer for your source, lens and material and mark a test on scrap before running a real job.
EZCAD2 .ezd projects convert the same way on this page.
