Groups and arrangements, explained
ProPresenter stores each part of a song once, as a group (Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge) with its slides and a colour. An arrangement is the order the groups are sung in, so a chorus that comes three times is one group listed three times. A song can have several arrangements, such as a full one for Sunday and a short one for a youth evening.
Build an arrangement
- Open the song's
.proor.pro6file and go to the Arrangements tab. - Click New arrangement from the group order to start from the groups as they are, or New arrangement to start empty.
- Add groups with the buttons under the order. Move them with the arrows or by dragging, and take them out with ✕. A group can be added as often as it is sung.
- Name the arrangement. Make first chooses the one the song is sung in: ProPresenter selects it when the song is imported.
- Check the slide strip at the bottom: choose the arrangement there to see its slides in order.
- Save as ProPresenter 7 or later (.pro) or ProPresenter 6 (.pro6).
Groups
On the Groups and slides tab you rename groups, give them a colour of your own or go back to ProPresenter's standard colour for the name, duplicate them, move them and split their slides. When a group keeps the standard colour, renaming "Verse 2" to "Chorus" gives it the colour ProPresenter gives a chorus.
Good to know
- A group that the first arrangement leaves out is not sung; the editor marks such groups on the Groups and slides tab.
- An empty arrangement is not saved.
- Other formats follow the first arrangement too: OpenLyrics saves it as the verse order, and ChordPro, plain text and EasyWorship files write the groups out in that order.
- Undo goes back through every change, and your songs stay in this browser while you work.
Saved files are deleted from our server after 30 minutes.
