Change a ProPresenter song without ProPresenter

A typo on a slide, a verse that should be split in two, a chorus that needs to come once more: small changes like these normally wait until you are at the computer that runs ProPresenter. With this editor you open the song file in any browser, fix it, and save a file ProPresenter imports.

Step by step

  1. Copy the song file from the library folder. ProPresenter 7 keeps its songs as .pro files, usually in Documents/ProPresenter/Libraries; ProPresenter 6 uses .pro6 files. A ZIP of the whole library folder works too.
  2. Click Open… and choose the files, or drop them onto the editor.
  3. Change the words on the slides, rename or recolour groups, split long slides, and build the arrangement on the Arrangements tab. The strip at the bottom shows the slides in the order they will be sung.
  4. Choose ProPresenter 7 or later (.pro) (or ProPresenter 6) and click Save.
  5. Drag the saved file onto a library in ProPresenter.

What comes back into ProPresenter

The saved song has your groups with their colours, every arrangement (the first one selected), the title, the authors, the CCLI song number and the copyright with the publisher. The text comes in ProPresenter's default style, so apply your theme after importing.

What to watch for

  • The editor works on words. Backgrounds, media, fonts and text styles of the opened file are not kept, and a slide with several text boxes keeps their text as one.
  • Chords can be edited, but ProPresenter files are saved without them. Save as ChordPro or OpenLyrics as well if your band needs the chords.
  • A .pro file can also be a ChordPro chord sheet. The editor tells the two apart by their content, so both open.

Your songs stay in this browser while you work, so closing the tab does not lose them. Saved files are deleted from our server after 30 minutes.
