From pasted words to a ProPresenter song
Typing a new song into ProPresenter slide by slide takes a while, and the words are usually already somewhere: a lyrics page, an email from the worship leader, a CCLI SongSelect download. Paste them here and the editor turns them into groups and slides, ready to save as a ProPresenter 7 file.
How the words are split
- A blank line starts a new slide.
- A line that is only a label starts a group:
Verse 1,Chorus,Pre-Chorus,Bridge,Tag,Ending, short forms such as[V1]or[C], and the same words in several other languages (Refrain, Coro, Strophe…). Groups get ProPresenter's standard colours. - A label used again further down with no words under it (or with the same words) means the group is sung again: it is kept once, and the arrangement repeats it.
- Without any labels, every paragraph becomes a verse of its own.
- Chords in brackets (
[G]Amazing [C]grace) or on a line above the words are kept. - The footer of a SongSelect download fills in the authors, the CCLI song number and the copyright, and its first line becomes the title.
The preview next to the text shows the groups, their slides and the order they will be sung in before you make the song. If your slides are too long, choose at most two or four lines per slide.
Then
Fix anything on the Groups and slides tab, check the order on the Arrangements tab, and save as ProPresenter 7 or later (.pro). Drag the file onto a library in ProPresenter.
Common pitfalls
- A label has to stand on its own line.
Chorus x2andChorus:are labels; a lyric line that starts with the word, such as "Chorus of angels sing", is not. - The words come in ProPresenter's default style: apply your theme after importing.
- Please paste only songs your church is licensed to project, for example through CCLI.
