A .pages file is a document from Apple Pages, the word processor that comes with Macs, iPhones
and iPads. On Windows or Android nothing opens it, and Word says it doesn't recognise the format.
Converting it here gives you a PDF to read and print, or a Word document to keep editing, without
a Mac.
How to open a Pages file without a Mac
- Add the
.pagesfile above (several, or a ZIP of folders, work too). - Choose PDF to read or print it, or Word to edit it (DOCX).
- Press Convert and download the result.
Pages files from Pages '09 and earlier and from Pages 2013 and later (the current format) are read.
What comes across
- Text with its paragraphs, headings and styles, text boxes and tables.
- The page size of the document.
What to check
- Fonts: Macs have fonts that Windows computers don't (Helvetica, Lucida Grande, Avenir, Cochin…). They are replaced here, which can change line breaks; the report lists every font and what it became.
- Pictures and shapes placed freely on the page can come out in other positions, or be missing; compare the result with the original when layout matters.
- Password-protected Pages documents can't be opened: remove the password in Pages first (File > Set Password).
Another way on a Mac or iPhone
