    Options

Leave empty unless Money asks for a password when it opens this file. It is only used to open the file.

    More options

QIF dates have no fixed order: Quicken reads them the way your computer writes dates. Automatic picks month/day/year for US editions of Money and day/month/year for the others.

Quicken for Windows reads Windows Western text. Automatic uses it when every name fits and UTF-8 otherwise (for example for Japanese or Greek names).

Your files are deleted after processing.

Getting data out of Microsoft Money used to mean running Money and exporting one report or one account at a time. This page turns the entire .mny file into one Excel workbook and a set of CSV files, without Money.

    What the workbook contains

    • Accounts: every account with its type, currency, opening balance, balance, number of transactions, first and last dates, linked account, and whether its balance matches the one Money saved in the file. Investment accounts show their value at the last prices in the file.
    • One sheet per account: date, number, payee, category, transfer account, memo, amount, running balance and status (cleared, reconciled, void). A split transaction keeps its total on its own row, and its lines follow with their category, memo and amount in "Split line amount", so sums of the Amount column stay right.
    • All transactions: every account in one sheet, one row per split line, ready for filters and pivot tables (spending by category across all accounts, for example).
    • Categories and Payees: the full category tree ("Bills : Electricity") with income or expense and tax flags, and every payee with how often it was used.
    • Investments: securities with symbols and last prices, holdings per account, and every buy, sale, dividend and reinvestment with quantity, price and commission.

Dates are real Excel dates and amounts real numbers, so they sort and add up.

    The CSV files

The ZIP holds the same tables as UTF-8 CSV files (accounts, transactions, investment transactions, holdings, securities, categories, payees) and one register per account in an accounts folder. They open in Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice and Google Sheets, and load into a database or a script.

    Things to know

    • Amounts stay in each account's currency; a file with dollar and pound accounts keeps both.
    • Scheduled bills that were never entered are not in the registers, as in Money.
    • Budgets and reports are not exported; the transactions they were built from are.

Your file is used only to produce your downloads, and the results are deleted after 30 minutes.
