    Options

Leave empty unless Money asks for a password when it opens this file. It is only used to open the file.

    More options

QIF dates have no fixed order: Quicken reads them the way your computer writes dates. Automatic picks month/day/year for US editions of Money and day/month/year for the others.

Quicken for Windows reads Windows Western text. Automatic uses it when every name fits and UTF-8 otherwise (for example for Japanese or Greek names).

Your files are deleted after processing.

Quicken does not open Microsoft Money files, and converting them used to need Money itself installed on a Windows PC. This page converts the .mny file to QIF, the transaction format Quicken imports, without Money.

How to move from Money to Quicken

    1. Upload your .mny file (with its password if it has one) and convert.
    2. Check the account list and balances in the preview.
    3. Download QIF, all accounts in one file and import it in Quicken (in Quicken for Windows: File > File Import > QIF File), choosing to import into all accounts. The file carries each account's name and type, the category list and the securities along with the transactions.
    4. Compare each account's balance in Quicken with the Accounts sheet of the Excel workbook.

If you would rather bring in one account at a time, use the ZIP with one QIF file per account.

    What comes across

    • Bank, credit card, cash, asset, liability and loan accounts with their opening balance and every transaction: date, number, payee, memo, category, cleared or reconciled status.
    • Split transactions as QIF splits, with each line's category, memo and amount.
    • Transfers between accounts, naming the other account in the Quicken way so both sides link.
    • Investment accounts with buys, sales, dividends, interest, reinvestments and share additions and removals, including quantity, price and commission.
    • Voided transactions marked the way Quicken marks them, with no amount.

    Things to know

    • Dates: QIF dates follow the order of your Money edition (month/day/year for US editions). If Quicken shows impossible dates, convert again with the other "Date order in QIF files".
    • Investment cash: Money keeps an investment account's cash in a separate "(Cash)" account. The QIF keeps that layout: each trade moves money to or from the cash account, which arrives as an ordinary account linked by transfers.
    • Text: names are written in the Windows character set Quicken expects; files with names in other alphabets are written in UTF-8.
    • Not included: budgets, scheduled bills, reports, and price history beyond the last price.

Your file is used only to produce your downloads, and the results are deleted after 30 minutes.
