ScanNCut .fcm files to turn into SVG and DXF, or SVG and Silhouette Studio (.studio3, .studio) files to turn into .fcm files. Several files, or a .zip of them, work too.

    Options
    Mat for new .fcm files

Only used when an .fcm file is made. Automatic picks the 12 × 12 in mat when the design fits on it, otherwise 12 × 24 in. Print & cut makes an A4 page to print with registration marks and a matching print-and-cut .fcm file.

    Lines in new .fcm files

Cut lines are cut with the blade, draw lines are drawn with a pen. Only used when an .fcm file is made.

    More options

Fine polylines open in every program; splines keep curves exact for CAD and LightBurn.

Your files are deleted after processing.

A Brother ScanNCut cuts .fcm files. If your design is an SVG, convert it here and copy the .fcm file to a USB stick for the machine, or import it into CanvasWorkspace. The shapes keep the size the SVG gives them.

How to convert SVG to FCM

    1. Upload the SVG. Several SVGs, or a .zip of them, become one .fcm file each.
    2. Pick the mat: Automatic takes 12 × 12 in when the design fits on it and 12 × 24 in when it does not. You can also choose either mat yourself.
    3. Keep Cut lines, or choose Draw lines (pen) for a design to draw.
    4. Check the preview, which is drawn from the finished .fcm file, and download it.

    Before you upload

    • Text is cut as letter outlines, drawn with the fonts on our server; the result names any font that was replaced. For a special font, convert text to paths first (Inkscape: Path → Object to Path).
    • Pictures are not cut. Photos and other pictures inside an SVG are left out; trace them into paths first if you want to cut around them.
    • Check the size. The size comes from the SVG's width, height and viewBox. SVGs that give no unit count 96 pixels per inch (72 for Adobe Illustrator files), which is what most editors mean.

How the design lands on the mat

    • Every top-level object or group becomes one piece that you can move or rotate on the machine. Shapes with holes, such as letters, stay one piece.
    • The design keeps its position when it lies on the cut area of the mat; otherwise it is moved onto it.
    • A design larger than the cut area (296.7 × 298.8 mm or 296.7 × 603.6 mm) is not scaled. The file is still made, and the result shows the design size next to the cut area so you can shrink it or pick the long mat.

New files are written with the cut area and layout CanvasWorkspace for PC uses. Choose Print & cut (A4) as the mat to get a print-and-cut file and an A4 PDF with the registration marks to print first. Rhinestone settings are not added.
