Proteus is licensed to the PC that runs the NETZSCH instrument, so an .ngb-… file copied to a
laptop, sent by a colleague or found in an old project folder often cannot be opened at all.
Upload it here instead: the file is decoded on our server and you see the curves and the details
in your browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux or a tablet.
What you see after uploading
- Charts of the main curves against temperature: mass (%) and DTG for TGA and STA runs, DSC for DSC and STA runs, dL/L0 for dilatometer runs, with heating and cooling drawn as separate lines, plus the measured temperature program when the run has several segments.
- Measurement details: instrument and software version, measurement type (sample, correction or Sample + Correction), sample name, ID and mass, crucible and its mass, furnace, sample carrier, purge and protective gases with their flows, operator, laboratory, project, comment and the measurement date in the instrument PC's time zone when the file stores it.
- Segments: each step of the temperature program, for example “0 → 200 °C at 10 K/min” or “Isothermal 200 °C, 5 min”, with its points, time and temperature range.
- The first rows of the data table.
Taking the data with you
Download the CSV with every channel, one CSV per segment, or an Excel workbook with the data, charts, the temperature program and a metadata sheet. Several files can be uploaded at once and are compared in overlay charts (the last heating of each file) and a combined table.
Which files open
STA and TGA files (.ngb-ss3, .ngb-bs3, .ngb-ds3, .ngb-dsu), DSC files (.ngb-sd7, also
the older single-file layout written by Proteus 5), and dilatometer files (.ngb-dla,
.ngb-cla). Files from Proteus 5.2, 6.0 and 8.0 were tested.
When a file does not open
- Analysis file (
.ngb-taa,.ngb-od7): it stores an evaluation and points to the measurement; upload the measurement file with the same name instead. - Cut-off file: a file copied while the instrument was still measuring, or an incomplete download, is reported as damaged or truncated. Copy it again after the measurement has finished.
- Export instead of the original: an ASCII or Excel export is recognised and you are asked
for the
.ngb-…file, which has every point and all metadata.
To convert straight to a table, see NGB to CSV.
