    NETZSCH Proteus measurement files such as .ngb-ss3, .ngb-bs3, .ngb-ds3, .ngb-sd7, .ngb-dsu, .ngb-dla or .ngb-cla. Several files or a .zip are converted together.

      Optional: a correction measurement (.ngb-bs3, .ngb-cla …) to subtract from measurement files that do not already contain one. It must use the same temperature program.

      Options

      Pick the comma version if your Excel uses a decimal comma (most of Europe).

      More options

      Proteus can draw DSC curves with exothermic effects up or down. If your peaks point the other way than in Proteus, choose Inverted.

      Your files are deleted after processing.

      Proteus saves every NETZSCH measurement as an .ngb-… file: .ngb-ss3 for an STA sample run, .ngb-ds3 or .ngb-dsu for Sample + Correction, .ngb-sd7 for a DSC 204 run, .ngb-dla for a dilatometer. This page turns such a file into a plain CSV that Excel, Origin, Python or R read directly, without Proteus and without going back to the instrument PC to export ASCII.

      How to convert NGB to CSV

      1. Upload the .ngb-… file, several files, or a .zip of a folder.
      2. Choose the number format: decimal point with commas between columns, or decimal comma with semicolons (for Excel set to most European languages).
      3. Download the CSV. A multi-segment run also comes as one CSV per segment.

      What the CSV contains

      One row per recorded point and one column per channel, with the unit in the header:

      • Time (min) and Segment, the program segment each row belongs to;
      • Temperature (°C), the sample temperature;
      • for TG: Mass (%), Mass change (mg) and DTG (%/min);
      • for DSC: DSC (mW/mg) when the file holds a DSC sensitivity calibration, DSC (µV) as measured, and Sensitivity (µV/mW);
      • for dilatometers: dL/L0 (%), dL (µm), Force (N);
      • purge and protective gas flows, furnace temperature and the other housekeeping channels the instrument recorded.

      Stored values keep their full precision: a temperature saved as 25.912 °C is written as 25.912, not with the binary noise of a converted float.

      Sample + Correction files

      If the file contains its correction run, the CSV holds the corrected curves (correction subtracted per segment, as Proteus shows them) and the uncorrected signals next to them, marked “uncorrected”.

      Pitfalls

      • A .ngb-taa or .ngb-od7 file is a Proteus analysis file without data; upload the measurement file it points to.
      • The CSV temperature is the stored one. Proteus text exports can show it slightly smoothed, so the first tenths of a degree after a heating starts may differ from an old export.
      • Evaluations made in Proteus (peak areas, onsets, glass transitions) live in the analysis file, not in the measurement, and are not part of the CSV.
