Bruker OPUS (.0, .1, .2 …), Thermo OMNIC (.spa, .spg), GRAMS/Galactic (.spc), Renishaw WiRE (.wdf), PerkinElmer (.sp) or JASCO (.jws). Several files or a .zip can be combined into one table.

    Options

OPUS files usually hold several blocks (absorbance, sample and background single channel, interferograms). Groups and maps always export every spectrum.

Pick the comma version if your Excel uses a decimal comma (most of Europe).

    More options

Columns: one x column and one column per spectrum. Rows: one spectrum per row (best for maps and chemometrics). Auto uses rows above 100 spectra.

Convert between wavenumber and wavelength (not possible for Raman shift or time axes).

Convert transmittance to absorbance (A = −log₁₀T) or back. Other spectrum types are left unchanged.

Your files are deleted after processing.

Open FTIR, Raman and UV-Vis files without the instrument software

Spectrometers save their data in closed binary formats that only the vendor software on the lab PC can open. This converter decodes Bruker OPUS, Thermo OMNIC, GRAMS/Galactic SPC, Renishaw WiRE, PerkinElmer Spectrum and JASCO Spectra Manager files directly and gives you the spectrum as a clean CSV, an Excel workbook with a chart, or a standard JCAMP-DX file — on a Mac, on Linux or on a laptop far away from the instrument.

    What to upload

    Instrument softwareFilesWhat is read
Bruker OPUS (VERTEX, TENSOR, INVENIO, ALPHA, MPA, TANGO, MultiRAM).0, .1, .2 … also .0000 or .001every data block: absorbance, transmittance, reflectance, Kubelka-Munk, Raman, sample and background single channel, interferograms, phase; OPUS 6.5 – 8.7
Thermo OMNIC (Nicolet iS, iS50, Avatar …).spa, .spgsingle spectra and spectrum groups: %T, absorbance, %R, K-M, log(1/R), single beam, interferograms, Raman
GRAMS / Galactic SPC (written by many instruments: PerkinElmer, Nicolet, HORIBA LabSpec, Ocean Optics, Andor, Kaiser, WITec, OPUS …).spcsingle, multifile and XYXY files, old (LabCalc) and new format, integer and float data
Renishaw WiRE.wdfsingle spectra, extended scans, depth/time series and maps with stage positions
PerkinElmer Spectrum (Spectrum One, Two, 100/400, Frontier).spspectrum, units and instrument details
JASCO Spectra Manager (FT/IR, V-series, J-series CD, FP fluorescence).jwsall channels (for example CD, HT voltage and absorbance)

Upload the original file the instrument software saved, not an export. You can select several files at once or upload a .zip of a whole folder (up to 200 spectra).

    What you get

    • CSV — x column plus one column per spectrum, with units in the header. Choose the “1234,5” number format for a semicolon-separated file with decimal commas if your Excel uses them. Series and maps with more than 100 spectra are written one spectrum per row (with the stage position or time) so they fit in a spreadsheet.
    • Every data block — OPUS files usually hold the result spectrum together with the sample and background single-channel spectra and the interferograms. The preview lists all of them; the ZIP contains each block as its own CSV, and you can choose which one goes into the main CSV.
    • Excel workbook — the data with a ready-made chart (wavenumber axis running high → low for IR), one sheet per additional block and a metadata sheet with every instrument parameter.
    • JCAMP-DX 5.01 — the standard exchange format for spectral libraries and spectroscopy software. Groups become one multi-block file.
    • Unit conversions — wavenumber ↔ wavelength (nm, µm) and transmittance ↔ absorbance.

When you upload several files, you also get a combined table with one column per spectrum, a workbook with every file and ZIPs of the per-file CSV and JCAMP-DX files.

    How accurate is it?

Every reader was checked number by number against the vendor's own text exports shipped with real files (OPUS data point tables, OMNIC CSV, WiRE text, PerkinElmer CSV, JASCO text) and against independent open-source readers: the values agree to the last digit those exports contain. Where open-source readers disagree with each other — for example on scaled integers in some multi-spectrum SPC files — we follow the file format specification and show why in our notes. The x axis is rebuilt exactly as the instrument software does (first/last point and number of points), not rounded.

    Privacy

Files are processed on our server only to produce your downloads. Uploads are deleted when the conversion finishes and results are deleted automatically after 30 minutes. Operator names, sample names and file paths stored in the file are shown to you in the metadata but are not kept or used for anything else.

    Not supported yet

OMNIC series files (.srs), Shimadzu UVProbe .spc files (a different format that happens to use the same extension), and very old PerkinElmer .SP files with a text header are recognised and reported as unsupported. Export them as JCAMP-DX or CSV in the instrument software for now.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need OPUS, OMNIC, GRAMS, WiRE or Spectrum installed?

No. The binary files are decoded directly on our server from their published or reverse-engineered structure, so any computer with a browser works — Windows, macOS, Linux or a tablet. Every reader was checked against the vendor's own text exports and against independent open-source readers.

My OPUS file ends in .0 (or .1, .2 …). Is that the right file?

Yes. OPUS numbers repeated measurements of the same sample with .0, .1, .2 … extensions. All of them are OPUS files; upload them as they are, several at once if you like.

Why does my OPUS file contain several spectra?

An OPUS file can store the result spectrum (absorbance or transmittance) together with the sample and background single-channel spectra, interferograms and phase data. The preview lists every block; choose one under “Which spectrum” or download them all in the ZIP or Excel file.

How do I open the CSV in Excel or Origin?

Double-click it in Excel, or use Data → From Text/CSV. If your Excel uses a decimal comma, choose the “1234,5 — semicolon-separated” number format before converting. In Origin use File → Import → CSV; the first row holds the column names and units.

Is the JCAMP-DX file standard compliant?

It is written as plain-ASCII JCAMP-DX 5.01 with the uncompressed AFFN ##XYDATA=(X++(Y..Y)) form (##XYPOINTS for unevenly spaced data, a LINK file for groups), the required header labels and the instrument metadata. Our files were read back with independent JCAMP-DX readers and reproduce the data to 1 part in 10 million.

    What happens to my files?

They are processed on our server only to produce your downloads and are deleted automatically after the job expires. We do not look at, keep or share your spectra.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes: select up to 200 files or upload a .zip. The preview shows all spectra, and you get a combined table (one column per spectrum), an Excel workbook with every file and ZIPs of per-file CSV and JCAMP-DX.
